17. “The Dude abides.”
The Dude, in this case refers to Jeff “the Dude” Lebowski, played by Jeff Bridges in the 1998 film “The Big Lebowski”. His general attitude to life is extremely relaxed, and when bad things happen he “abides”. The characters attitude has inspired a whole religion called “Dudeism” which is mostly about living in the moment. Nowadays, if someone tells you the Dude abides, it means they are ok with what is going on.
